Spiritual Dating: 5 Tips For Building A Conscious Relationship

Becoming Conscious

in dating & relationships

We all want to find that perfect partner to spend our lives with who's not only our lover but our deepest, most intimate confidant. Lately, however, it seems that current trends in dating have made finding this kind of relationship difficult, leaving people frustrated and disappointed rather than happy and in love. Contemporary guidance in dating makes it feel like a rat race filled with a plethora of tips and tricks for snagging a keeper that usually requires each of us to come painfully close to (and sometimes over the edge of) compromising ourselves.

We may capture someone’s attention for all of a New York minute, yet these tactics often fail to produce a meaningful and lasting connection, rich in intimacy and connection. I was frustrated by these superficial connections when I was dating, and now I see my clients struggle to make sense of the constantly changing and sometimes dizzying dating landscape.

I believe it's time we change the way we approach our pursuit of conscious connections. Rather than partaking in the rat race, we need to evolve our perception of dating and become conscious daters. Conscious dating is a method that honors and respects us as individuals and offers an emotionally healthy way to find love. This process is about attracting people who are in alignment with our most authentic and strongest self. It’s not about creating superficial illusions or wearing a mask. Here are five ways that you can begin to embark on a more conscious form of dating.

6 Things You Should ALWAYS Be Selfish About In Relationships

Sacred Selfishness

Learning to love more by giving less.

I'm a giver. A BIG giver; I give it all and then some. It doesn’t matter if it's a romantic connection or a friendship, I give everything to the nth degree. In the past, I did this to the point that I hardly knew who I was or what I wanted because I was too busy watching you to figure out what you would want from me. And why on Mama Earth would I do this?

Well, I was convinced that the more that I gave—the more that I created myself in the image of what others wanted—the less likely they would be to leave. I know now that this behavior was rooted in a lack of self-confidence. But it took me a while to learn just how detrimental this behavior was to the best, and most important relationship I will ever foster—the one with myself.

The truth is, we all have some experience with giving up too much of ourselves for the sake of a relationship. But the best relationships are a beautiful blend of giving and taking, so how do you know where to draw the line? It helps to know what you should absolutely never give up, and then work from there. So, here are six things you should never give up in a relationship.

Read more here. My latest on Mind Body Green breaks down things we should remain steadfastly, selfishly devoted to never giving up in our relationships!

Facing, Releasing, Becoming

We are entering the portal, allowing a deep release of all that does not serve. All that is not aligned with our truest, most authentic self and DAMN does it feel good! Its time to rise without our masks. To let go of fear, self sabotage and all that we have adopted as part of ourselves that in truth was not aligned with who we are and what we want.

Because its not time to do as they have done it. Its not time to present an image of ourselves that we think will be more accepted or liked. Its time to do it as we know we, and we alone can do it. To slap our personal magic on everything we do and have no fucks as to who likes it and who doesn't.

Because when we do things in our own special way we attract those beautiful creatures who are going to dig what we are putting down. They will want to be part of that because it will be in alignment with who they are. And yes, there may be some people who don't-some people who are not in alignment with our truest, most vibest self. And they may leave and that's ok. Thats alright to say goodbye whether its to a job, a relationship or anything else.

Because the medicine of this transit is that anything leaving now, anything ending now, anything that is scrambling out of our life like its got some place else to be-well its meant to leave. Its meant to be released and we are meant to allow it all to happen without judgement or fear but with the understanding that its an opening. A portal for us to find what we truly value. To find who we are and what is best for us and to do things our way.

If you have not already be sure to sign up for Lunations on the Welcome page (you can click my name above to get there). I have sent out a powerful guided meditation for releasing all that no longer serves and brings integration to our purest, most authentic self.

April Intuitive Medicine

April Intuitive Medicine

Welcome to April, a month known for its melody of colors and sometimes tumultuously sporadic weather. The Earth is yawning and adjusting after her winter sleep and we too experience an inner awakening. A call that asks we begin anew and open to the fertile possibilities before us.

March Intuitive Medicine

March represents the turning of the tide in our lives. We welcome the season of Aries, the Spring equinox (or the Autumn equinox for those living in the Southern Hemisphere), and a flurry of energy rushing in from transits with Mars, Saturn as well as Venus, to name just a few. Buckle up, beauties!

Pisces requires that we go deep. That we brush off the feels. That we take a cold, hard look at ourselves, the workings of our mind and the interaction this has with the outside world and begin to ferret out what no longer serves.
